    The art of Gennady Maistrenko, who found his vocation in landscape, is versatile and unique. He works in labour-cnsuming and complicated technique - pastel. Maistrenko on his own, being a mature person, mastered the fine points and specificity of his amazing art material, in which not all professionals,brothers in art workshop, managed to find their own plastic figurative languige.

   Inimitable fascination, colouristic dept and tenderness of pastel arefelt acutely and used masterly by the artist in his easel paintings. Easiness, decorative finesse, velvetly appearance of pastel, and philosophic thoroughness, which seem to be hard to combine, in the works of Gennady Maistrenko match well with each other and determine the unique style of the painter.

   This is best of all manifested in the cycle of works "Temples of Russia". The airy brightness of the technique itself is amazingly combined with the piersing beauty of landscapes, laying stress on the greatness of hand-made creations of ancient Russian architects, who sing the power of national spirit and unconquerable Faith.

   Gennady Maistrenko managed to achieve the rate harmony of present and eternal, eart and universe notions about imperishable values of the existence.
